****IMPORTANT Information regarding September 11th Board Meeting****

We have received some calls concerning the weather and whether consideration has
been given to rescheduling tonight’s public hearing on the adoption of the non-ad
valorem assessment fee.
Section 197.3632, Florida Statutes, mandates actions to be completed by specified
deadlines, including the District’s Board Chair certifying a non-ad valorem assessment
roll.  Unfortunately, unlike the ad valorem millage process, this statute does not include
automatic deadline extensions when a state of emergency is declared by the Governor
pursuant to Chapter 252, Florida Statutes.  Rather, the Section 197.3632 requirements
would have to be extended through the issuance of an emergency order, which has not
been issued for Santa Rosa County at this time.
The District acknowledges the concerns of its citizens related to potential flooding
associated with Hurricane Francine.  We are dedicated to keeping our citizens safe.
Although we are unable to reschedule tonight’s meeting, we ask citizens who would like
to submit written comments related to the non-ad valorem assessments to please
submit such comments on our web site through the “contact us” tab. During the public
comment period on this issue, District staff will read your comments into the record so
the Board has the opportunity to consider them.  Please be mindful to submit comments
that are less than 3 minutes when read and do not contain obscenities, etc.
